The Chronicles of Pern

The detailed setting makes Pern feel so alive, but I wonder how much of it was planned from the start versus developed during writing.

Some chapters felt more focused on exploration than action, which made me curious if that was intentional to build atmosphere.

The characters' struggles to survive in a harsh environment seem very relevant today. Did anyone else find these themes particularly impactful?
