The novel explores advanced alien technology and human reactions; I wonder what inspired the level of scientific detail included.

The choices about contact and interference felt very relevant today, but also made me think about the risks involved in first contact stories.

Knowing this is a sequel, I’m curious how Clarke and his collaborators decided to expand on the universe while maintaining its core mysteries.
