The story moves quickly from scene to scene, but did that enhance the suspense or make it hard to keep up at times?

Some of the reveals felt telegraphed — was that intentional to keep the story accessible or a missed opportunity for complexity?

The city’s glamour and grit really shine through, but I wonder if the author drew from personal experiences or research to craft this world.
