Knausgård’s vivid descriptions of Arendal seem deeply intertwined with the character’s psyche. I wonder how much of the setting was inspired by real experiences or memories.

Some chapters felt very introspective and slow, which made me think about how that affected the overall flow. Was this deliberate to mirror the character’s thought process?

The book’s focus on personal history feels universal, but I’d love to hear if readers from other cultures interpret these themes differently based on their own experiences.
