Wicked State of Mind

The mix of magic and suspense kept me guessing, but I'm curious whether this was planned from the start or evolved during writing.

I loved the concept but found myself needing to re-read certain parts to fully grasp how it worked. Was this complexity intentional?

It feels so alive and layered, I wonder if the author based it on a real place or created it entirely from imagination.
