Radiguet was quite young himself when writing this, so I wonder how much of his personal feelings shaped the intense emotions in the story.

The characters' decisions are so layered; I kept questioning whether they were truly responsible for their actions or victims of their circumstances.

The juxtaposition of love and mortality adds such a tragic beauty—I'm curious whether Radiguet aimed to comment on the fragility of life or something else.
