The city feels alive and almost sinister—did the idea of personifying the city come from a particular source or concept?

The suspense builds so well without relying on graphic violence, which made the fear linger longer. Was that intentional or just my reading taste?

The supernatural elements added layers of complexity, but I wonder if they also served as a metaphor for deeper themes in the story.
