The stories feel playful yet thought-provoking. I'm curious how much of this was intentional and what philosophical themes Calvino aimed to explore.

The stories evoke a deep connection to history and myth, but also leave me wondering how much of it is rooted in actual tradition versus imagination.

Italo Calvino often plays with storytelling itself, but I wonder what motivated him to center this collection around the stories of our ancestors specifically.
