I'm curious whether the author drew from traditional folklore or created entirely new mythos. Did these choices influence the story’s tone and direction?

Their secrets and motives kept me guessing, but also made me question what was real. How did others interpret their reliability?

The story slowed down at times with detailed world-building, but then picked up again. I wonder if this was planned to build tension.
