The magic feels so layered and immersive — I wonder if the author drew from existing folklore or created something entirely new. Did the process of designing this system evolve during writing?

Some scenes really made me feel the characters' fears and hopes deeply. I'm curious how much of that emotional intensity was planned versus developed organically.
