The house feels like a character itself, with its own secrets and atmosphere. I'm curious what inspired the author to choose this particular setting and how much of its history was based on real places or stories.

The story had such a compelling start and ending, but I felt the middle dragged a bit. I wonder if this was a conscious choice to build tension or if it evolved during writing.
