[REVIEW] What this page is
This summary explains, in plain language, how AskAuthor uses cookies. The full English policy below is what legally binds us.
[REVIEW] Essential cookies
Supabase sets sb-* cookies so you can stay signed in. Blocking them will prevent login. These are the only cookies we always set.
[REVIEW] Analytics and error monitoring
We use Plausible for aggregate, anonymous traffic statistics — Plausible sets no cookies at all. PostHog (product analytics) and Sentry (error tracking) may set cookies. In the EU these are only set after you accept the cookie banner.
[REVIEW] What we do not do
We do not set advertising cookies. We do not build behavioral profiles of you. We do not sell data to advertisers.
[REVIEW] Your control
Every browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies in its privacy settings. Blocking essential cookies will break login.

Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember information across page loads and sessions. We use only the minimum cookies necessary to operate AskAuthor.
Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-* (Supabase) | Strictly Necessary | Authentication session — keeps you logged in | Session / up to 7 days |
ph_* (PostHog) | Analytics | Product analytics — page views, feature interactions, anonymized user identifiers | Persistent / ~1 year |
sentry-* (Sentry) | Error Monitoring | Error monitoring and performance tracking | Session-based |
In addition to essential cookies, we use consent-gated analytics, diagnostics, and bot-prevention tools to understand how the platform is used, keep auth flows safe, and fix bugs. See the table above and the notes below for details.
If you are located in the European Union, analytics and error monitoring cookies or similar storage will only be set after you provide consent via our cookie banner. Strictly necessary auth and security checks may still run so the service can work safely.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics for anonymous, aggregated statistics — including page views, session counts, referral sources, and device types.
Plausible analytics loads only after you accept cookies via our consent banner. Before consent, no analytics pings are sent from your browser. Plausible itself does not set cookies; we still wait for your consent before loading it.
Your Choices
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time. This will clear your stored choice and re-show the consent banner so you can accept or decline analytics and error monitoring.
How to Control Cookies
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their privacy or security settings (typically found under Settings > Privacy & Security). Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies — such as the Supabase session cookie — will prevent you from logging in to AskAuthor.
For step-by-step instructions, consult your browser's help documentation:
Third-Party Cookies
PostHog and Sentry may set cookies or similar browser storage originating from their respective domains for analytics and error monitoring purposes. Cloudflare Turnstile may process browser signals for bot prevention on auth-sensitive flows.
However, affiliate links to Amazon, Bookshop.org, and Libro.fm lead to external websites that may set their own cookies in accordance with their respective privacy and cookie policies. We have no control over those cookies.
