The Way of Kings

The magic in The Way of Kings feels so unique and well-thought-out. I'm curious whether it was fully mapped out from the start or developed gradually during writing.

With so many perspectives, I sometimes lost track of who was who. Did the storytelling flow better on a re-read or after getting used to the structure?

The setting feels so alive and layered. I wonder if Sanderson drew from specific mythologies or created it entirely from scratch.
