The setting feels rich and well-researched, but I wonder what drew Andrew Wareham to this era and how much of it was based on personal interest or historical gaps he wanted to fill.

While I enjoyed the character development, some plot turns felt familiar for the genre. Am I the only one who wished for more surprises in the story?

The world-building is so immersive without overwhelming the story. I wonder whether the author planned this balance from the start or adjusted during writing.
